Boston – The Boston Foundation today announced that it had made $110,000 in grants to five Greater Boston organizations that help meet the basic needs of residents. The grants were made possible by donors to the Food and Fuel Fund, which raises funds each winter to provide food and heating assistance.
The Fund was launched in 2008 to provide critical access to food and secure shelter in the months following the Great Recession. In its history, the Fund has made more than $3.5 million in grants to critical relief organizations.
“Through both good times and bad, Boston Foundation donors have stepped up to ensure that thousands of their neighbors are safer, warmer and well-fed through the Food and Fuel Fund,” said Paul S. Grogan, President and CEO of the Boston Foundation. “This year, the Fund has been one of the many ways that we are able to partner with nonprofits to work toward a more just and equitable recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.”
